Copper Mountain Information

Copper Mountain is a mountain resort located in west Summit County, Colorado. Copper Mountain is considered one of the best ski resorts in Colorado and even takes the #1 spot on many lists. Founded in 1972, Copper Mountain has been run by the Powdr Corporation since 2009, and today consists of 3 base villages that are each associated with the general skill-level of their corresponding runs.

As such, Copper Mountain is a great place to find a ski experience that fully matches your experience and skill level.

Copper Mountain Location & Directions

Copper Mountain is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes, or 75 miles, from Denver by car. Situated just south of the Interstate 70, and 5 minutes past Frisco, it isn't hard to find.

Geographically, Copper Mountain is just west of the Tenmile Range, putting it 5 miles directly west of Breckenridge which lies on the east side of the range. The Copper Mountain resort is situated on the northside of Copper Mountain (the mountain) and south of Uneva Peak. Tenmile Creek runs past the resort to the east,

To the north of Copper Mountain are the towns of Frisco. Dillon, and Silverthorne, surrounding the Dillon Reservoir. Other nearby resorts include Breckenridge, Keystone, Vail, and Arapahoe Basin.

An extensive and well-developed trail system connects Copper Mountain to surrounding communities and areas via routes like the Gore Range Trail, Ten Mile Canyon Trail, Continental Divide-Colorado Trail, and the Tenmile Recreation Path.

Copper Mountain Condos & Homes For Sale

Like all of the ski resorts in Summit County, Copper Mountain offers world-class accommodation, both to rent and buy. These units come in the form of detached lodge homes, townhomes, and condo apartments, distributed across the three villages of Copper Mountain.

Starting in the west, there are the exclusive and private Lewis Ranch neighborhood, consisting of large mountain homes. A few of these are multi-unit homes, but the majority are available entirely for individual renters or buyers. The Lumberjack chairlift leaves from this community, making it a wonderful ski-in-ski-out experience to live here.

Moving east, there are the many townhome communities and condo resorts of Copper Mountain's central village. Notable examples include:

  • The Cirque
  • Union Creek
  • New Village
  • Timber Creek
  • Copper Valley
  • The Village
  • West Lake Lodge

And finally, at the eastern end of Copper Mountian, you'll find the various communities built around the Copper Creek Golf Course. These communities include Elk Run, Anaconda, Snowflake, Copper Mountain Resort, and The Greens. East of those are the exclusive detached and semi-detached homes of The Woods, Legends, and The Masters at Copper Creek. These homes represent some of the most luxurious and spacious in Copper Creek.

Any home in Copper Creek is a fantastic opportunity, not only for seasons of fun enjoying the beauty and recreational activities of Copper Creek but as investments and extra sources of income as well. The attractions of Copper Creek ensure that you'll be able to rent out your condo or home should be elsewhere for part or most of the year.

What To Do In Copper Creek CO

Copper Creek is a community built around fun, excitement, and relaxation. If you're in Copper Creek, chances are that you're looking for one of those three, and you'll probably find it.

Of course, the biggest draw is the mountain, and more specifically the skiing or snowboarding that it affords. Copper Mountain includes:

  • 16 miles of cross-country trails
  • Around 2,500 acres for skiing or boarding
  • 140 ski runs and trails
  • 23 chair lifts
  • Snowcat skiing on Tucker Mountain
  • 2 terrain parks

All of this skiing and snowboarding goodness is grouped based on skill-level, starting with the easiest runs in the west, and becoming steadily more challenging to the east. This means that if you're intent on enjoying the snow, you can do so in a place and a way that suits your skill level.

There's also the Woodward indoor practice facility, allowing skiing and snowboarding all year round. Other popular winter activities include ice skating, tubing, sleigh riding, or dog-sledding.

When the summer months roll around, the fun doesn't stop, as Copper Mountain hosts many facilities for sports and activities, as well as numerous events and attractions. If you're still feeling active, you can go golfing, GO-karting, mountain biking, zip-lining, disc golfing, rock climbing, bungee jumping, boating, fishing, hiking, or camping. There's also the Woodward WreckTangle, an exciting and challenging obstacle course.

But if you're looking for something more relaxing, you can always spend time at one of the resorts, take a dip in a heated pool or hot tub, or enjoy a succulent meal at one of the many village restaurants. There are also a host of stores and places to visit in the central village.
